Westfield Art Association Presents
Danielle Mick
Saturday, May 20, 2006
2 - 4 PM
Donald B. Palmer Museum/ Springfield Free Public Library
Westfield Art Association will meet on Saturday, May 20, 2006 at the Donald
B. Palmer Museum of the Springfield Free Public Library at 66 Mountain Ave.,
Springfield, NJ. Danielle Mick will be demonstrating her Pastel Landscape Painting.
Too often we take for granted what is right in front of us. Learning to
see with depth and sensitivity, and to appreciate the subtleties of color, light,
and change have a profound impact on my work. Knowing what is observed will
never be exactly the same is one of the most exhilarating experiences one can
have. It is what I seek to capture.
Danielles statement is supported by her creation of works of art in all
mediums. She is inspired by the sea, sky and landscape world around her. Through
the use of light and color, she endeavors to express the essence and harmony
of a scene at any particular moment in time. Simplicity and balance are key
in all her work.
Highly educated in the field of art, Ms. Mick studied at the Art Students League,
National Academy of Fine Art, and the New School of Parsons in NY, and the Chicago
Institute of Art in Illinois. She also studied with Wolfe Kahn in New York City,
and Elizabeth Mowry, Woodstock, NY.
She is the recipient of numerous awards such as the Pastel Society of America
Best in Show; Somerset Art Association Second Place, two years
in a row; Paper Mill Playhouse Award of Excellence and an Award of Merit.
She is a Signature member of the Pastel Society of America, The Millburn-Short
Hills Art Center and the allied Artists of America, to mention a few.
Ms. Mick has exhibited at the National Arts Club, Catherine Lorillard Wolfe
Art Club, The Salmagundi Club, and the National Audubon Society in New York
and the Walker Kornbluth Gallery, Louisa Melrose Gallery, Dupre Gallery, Seton
Hall University and NJ Center of Visual Arts in New Jersey, among many familiar
places.
She has been publicized in the Star Ledger, Independent Press, Vicinity Magazine,
and the Courier News in New Jersey and The New York Times, National Arts Club
in New York and the Pastel Journal.
Danielle gives private and group instructions and has taught at the NJ Center
of Visual Arts in Summit, NJ, the Somerset Art Association in Bedminster, NJ,
Creative Hands in Madison, NJ, Millburn Short Hills Art Center, Scotch
Plains Association and the Roxbury Art Association.
