Training
Most of the training courses below have flyers available at the council office. If you are interested in participating please take heed of the registration deadline. This is important so that the necessary training material is present.
Tentative Training Schedule for 1999-2000


COLLEGE OF COMMISSIONER SERVICE
Every fall WAC Commissioners gather for training designed to help Commissioners and Exploring Service Team Members better service their units. The courses will also help Roundtable Commissioners and their staff to provide exciting roundtables.

CUB SCOUT TRAINING
Tiger Cub Organizer:
Provides knowledge of how the Tiger cub program operates.

Cub Scout Leader Fast Start:
For all registered adults. Learn the basics necessary to be an asset to the unit. Fast Start provides immediate information and guidance in the objectives and resources to help new leaders do a good job.

There are five videos:

Cub Scout Leader Basic Training:

A series of separate sessions designed to give job-related information to all Cub Scout Leaders. The training is usually held as a one-day training, but can also be attended at a two-evening course. Individual training is granted in certain circumstances. All leaders attend the joint morning sessions and then attend split sessions; Pack Leaders, Den Leaders, Webelos Leaders and Tiger Cub Coach.

Cub Roundtable:
Held monthly, provides pack leaders with supplemental training. Join in fun and fellowship while learning about the upcoming month's program. Second Tue. of each month (Aug.- Jul.). Usually held at 7:30 to 9 PM unless changed in the news.

Pow Wow:
An annual get-together of Cub Scout Leaders from the entire council. Exciting, fun-filled, informative training. All registered and any interested parents are invited to attend.

Webelos Outdoor:
A training session offered for Webelos Leaders that covers the outdoor section in the Webelos program

National Volunteer Training Center Conferences:
Held at Philmont Scout Ranch, Cimmaron, New Mexico. Contact the District Executive for information at the Council office.

Den Leader Coach:
Leaders to serve as den leader coaches within their packs must attend basic training and also a one-day den leader coach training session to be considered trained for the position. Den Leader Coaches must have certain qualifications as outlined in the Cub Scout Leader Book.

Den Chief Training:
Training for Scouts acting as, or soon to be Den Chiefs.

Webelos Leader Overnight:
Specialized training for Webelows Leaders.

Cub Woodbadge:
Cub leaders who have completed Train the Trainer, served as a trainer and have been registered for at least two years, are eligible to attend an intensive 6-day advanced training designed to train trainers. Interested adults submit their names to the Council Registrar.

Youth Protection:
A 64-minute video designed for the distributing of information about Youth Protection policies, such as barriers to abuse within Scouting. Contact person: District Executive, District Training Chair, Designated Assistant within the unit. Often presented at Roundtable.

BOY SCOUT TRAINING
Scout Roundtable:
Share program ideas, gain valuable training, designed to support all levels of troop leadership. Second Tue. of each month (Aug.- Jul.).

Scout Leader Fast Start:
For all registered adults. A video for new leaders, committee members and interested parents. The video consists of three segments; The Troop Meeting, The Outdoor Program and The Troop Organization.
Boy Scout Leader fast start is a prerequisite for the Scoutmastership Fundamentals course. Designed to give an overview of successful troop operations. The video should be viewed with a certified trainer present.

Scoutmastership fundamentals:
Good training for all adults active in the unit. Especially necessary for the SM, ASM, as well as members of the Committee.
A three-part training course for Boy Scout Leaders. It includes:

Scout Woodbadge:
Advanced training for Boy Scout Leaders. This experience involves eight days and seven nights. It can also be offered on three weekends. Participation is for Scoutmasters, Assistant Scoutmasters, and others directly in support of troop operation.

Junior Leader Training:
For your troop's key youth leaders. This program is carried out at the troop level by the troop leaders.

TLT - Council Junior Leader Training Conference:
For your troop's key youth leaders. This program is usually presented at Winnabago Scout Reservarionduring a week in September. The best opportunity for the young man to learn formally the principals of leadership.

Merit Badge Counselor Orientation:
For new Merit Badge Counselors.

Youth Protection:
A 64-minute video designed for the distributing of information about Youth Protection policies, such as barriers to abuse within Scouting. Contact person: District Executive, District Training Chair, Designated Assistant within the unit. Often presented at Roundtable.

National Volunteer Training Center Conferences:

High Adventure:
This team offers a series of programs for Scouters in specific areas, Back Pack Awareness, Cold Weather Training, Advanced Trek Planning and Basic Paddle Sports. Contact person: District Executive, District Training Chair, High Adventure Team Member.

VARSITY TRAINING
Varsity Leader Fast Start:
A video for new leaders, committee members and interested parents. Designed to give a new leader the basic information to put on a successful varsity program.

Varsity Leader Basic:
A program consisting of three sessions that flow from one to the other.


Varsity Huddles:
Share ideas and supports all levels of team leadership.

Youth Protection:

VENTURE TRAINING
Venture Fast Start:

Venture Advanced Seminar:
Advance training.

Venture Officer's Seminar:
Training for Explorer youth.
