| Transportation is a big part of eberyone's lives. We travel to work, we travel on vacations. This big idea lets you and your Tiger Cub explore some of the many ways people travel from one place to another. As your Tiger Cub learns about transportation, you can take the opportunity to explain how important it is to be on time and to be courteous to others. You can slo plan activities that will help to make your family trips pleasant experiences for everyone. | ||
| Activity Suggestions for Families: | ||
| 1. Make a map of your neighborhood. | ||
| 2. Take a bike trip and note key landmarks along the way. | ||
| 3. Learn how to read a road map. | ||
| 4. Compare road maps to other kinds of maps (weather maps, topographical maps, etc.). | ||
| 5. Visit an airport and note all the cities from which planes arrive. | ||
| 6. Help plan a family vacation and discuss the things you would like to see along the way. | ||
| 7. Ride a horse. | ||
| 8. Take a taxi. | ||
| 9. Ride a bus or subway to take a trip around your town or city. | ||
| 10. Make up your own in-car games for trips. | ||
| 11. Discuss how people with disabilities travel. | ||
| Activity Suggestions for the Tiger Cub Den: | ||
| 1. Visit a police station, bus, garage, or transportation department. | ||
| 2. Have a policeman visit your group to explain use of the radar gun. | ||
| 3. Try to arrange some rides in a tractor-trailer truck cab. | ||
| 4. Plan a group trip somewhere by bus or train | ||
| 5. Don't forget, you might want to come up with some of your own ideas. | ||
