  • Provides leadership and tactical direction for the development and achievement of the Council’s goals in partnership with the Council’s Board of Directors.
  • Directs all aspects of the Council’s day-to-day operations.
  • Represents the Council to the public and community.
  • Advises, recommends and assists the Board of Directors in the formulation of procedures governing the Council.
  • Develops and manages the tactical operating plan for the Council.

  • Assists in all aspects of the fall and spring product sales.

  • Promotes a diversified Girl Scout program with outreach to all girl and adult populations in the Council’s jurisdiction.
  • Applies Council’s goals and objectives in the management of the Membership Team.
  • Manages statistical data for measuring membership participation, diversity and retention and recruitment of girls and adults.
  • Summer Day Camp management
  • Develops and implements a membership plan.  
  • Serves as a Membership Specialist for Fanwood/Scotch Plains and Springfield

 

Membership Specialists- Are assigned to the Council’s 24 Communities and 20 Service Units.

  • Each Membership Specialist acts as a contact between the Council and members of assigned communities.
  • Provides support and services to Troop/Group, Leaders and Service Units.
  • Actively recruits new adult and girls members for Troop/Groups in assigned Service Units.

  • Enters all membership registration forms into Council database and compiles reports for management.
  • Responsible for all aspects of Resident Camp registration and year-round registration for Hoover facilities.
  • Responsible for all aspects of Program and Education registration.

  • Performs a multitude of functions for both the program and membership departments
  • Assists with Day Camp.
  • Assists in the coordination of Programs and Events.

  • Provides support services to the Membership Team; as well as to the Council’s Service Units, GAFA and the Awards and Recognition Committee.
  • Prepares membership and Day Camp reports.
  • Assigns troop numbers, prepares troop packets, processes Volunteer Applications and References and prepares the Ad Journal.
  • Assists when necessary in the Council Shop.

 

Shop Manager/Marketing Director: Illia Alston  Ext.1225   ialston@gswrc.com

  • Manages the Council’s retail operation and provides input into establishing the Council planned sales objectives in the Council Shop at the Westfield Service Center and Trading Post at Camp Lou Henry Hoover  
  • Implements annual merchandise and marketing plans to achieve these objectives by promoting and stimulating sales of Girl Scout merchandises while meeting the needs of girls, adult members, employed staff and visitors.
  • Manages the product sale programs, Nut/QSP and Cookies.
  • Manages all program training for Nut/QSP and Cookies
  • Develops and implements a marketing plan.

Director of Program, Education and Property: Peggy Mellors  Ext. 1205 pmellors@gswrc.com

  • Provides overall leadership and direction for the design, development and delivery of council-wide programs.
  • Responsible for the development of Girl Scout program resources that address the needs and interests of Girl Scout members and attract non-membership to the organization.
  • Provides overall leadership and direction for the design, development, and delivery of training opportunities to meet the needs of volunteers at all levels of the organization, for the recruitment, training and supervision of volunteer trainers; and for updating and revising training materials consistent with the organizations policies.
  • Responsible for all aspects of property management.

 

Program Specialist:  Susannah Arnold, Ext. 1212, sarnold@gswrc.com
Develops and provides program opportunities and support systems to meet the needs and interest of girls by age levels.

  • Provides resources and support to adult volunteers who deliver the program to girls.  She strengthens the quality of the Girl Scout program through interpretation of Girl Scout program philosophy and the Council’s policies.
  • Provides and implements recruitment, training and program strategies for adult volunteers and Girl Scouts with the Membership Unit and trainers.
  • Coordinates and monitors Gold, Silver and Bronze awards working directly with the Girl Scouts.

Camp Hoover Manager/Resident Camp Director:

  • Provides leadership to assure that there are quality outdoor camping programs and events at Camp Hoover, which meets the needs and interests of girls and adult volunteers.  Consistent with Council goals and American Camping Association (ACA) standards.

  • Responsible for the utilization and conservation of the organization’s resources and supports the Chief Executive Officer in ensuring that resource utilization reflects and facilitates achievement of the corporate goals established by the Board of Directors.
  • Supports the CEO in the development of the organization’s budget, administers, and monitors operating plans and budgets.
  • Responsible for maintaining budgetary control of the finances of the council and for seeing that no obligations are incurred in the name of the council except for the purpose of the Council and pursuant to proper authorization
  • Manages accounts and all financial records, and prepares and issues the financial statements and reports.
  • Assists the CEO in the development of an annual operating and capital budget.

  • Initiates, develops and maintains an awareness and brand image among all constituents of the Girl Scout movement.
  • Maintains a relationship with local and regional media.
  • Creates and manages strategies for public relations/ media / marketing campaigns to promote the Girl Scout image to internal and external audiences through newsletters, videos, brochures, radio, television, photo opportunities and other media.
  • Produces:  The View, Leader Update, The Annual Report, Camp Hoover Summer Camp brochure, Program & Education Schedule and any other materials necessary.
  • Approves all publication materials produced for internal and external audiences, relaying a consistent message of the Girl Scout image.
  • Develops and implements the Councils’ communication plan.

  • Receives and directs Visitors and telephone call throughout the Council. Supports all staff activities and assists in the Council store.

 

Camp Ranger: John Shabatura

  • Maintains campgrounds and buildings at the camp facilities. Provides service and support to the volunteers and groups attending the camp programs.
