Scouts is a lot of things but it's not free.
Girl Scouts provides girls with a nurturing environment that focuses on
personal achievements and a strong girl-adult partnership. Opportunities are designed to
help girls develop life skills, leadership abilities and values. Trained professionals and
volunteers, with measurable results, facilitate well-planned program opportunities.
Through exposure to the Girl Scout program, girls report feeling a stronger connection to
their community and a commitment to community service. Girl Scouts is for every girl,
everywhere. It is an organization that provides quality program opportunities to all girls
regardless of race, religion or financial ability. While Girl Scouts provides girls with
quality programming at a low cost, it does not come without costs. Providing Girl Scouting
to the nearly 8000 girls and 3000 adults of Girl Scouts of Washington Rock Council
requires a group of committed people who give generously of their time and money. The
children are our future and those individuals who support our program are making a
difference. To meet our yearly budget of $1.4 million our income comes from the following
sources:
As a private non-profit organization it is necessary for us to
continually seek funding from individuals, foundations, businesses, United Ways through
either direct or indirect giving. The average cost to provide Girl Scouting is $186 per
girl per year. All the money we raise stays right in our Council to provide program for
our girls. The 21% of our income that is direct support includes the following campaigns.

FOUNDATIONS AND GRANTS
Every year requests for funding are submitted by the Council to various local/area
foundations and government agencies for specific programs and projects. We are always
searching for additional charitable entities that oversee such funding to enhance our
organization and would welcome information and inquiries for further information on our
program needs.
GAFA
Girl and Adult Financial Aid is a program specifically targeted to raising money to
assist girls and adults who cannot afford to pay the full cost of our camp and other
Council sponsored programs. Our other giving also supports this need, but it for those
individuals who wish to make it their special focus.
