Annual Book Sale

Gaston Award

This year’s recipient of the Gaston Award is Letty Hudak.  The award will be presented on either March 8th or March 15th.  More details will be forthcoming.

Scholarship

Applications for the 6th annul “Future Library” scholarship are available at the circulation desk.  Applications must be submitted by April 15th.  Those eligible are Westfield residents currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Library Science or a Bachelor’s Degree in Media Education.  Westfield High School 2009 graduates interested in this field, who have been employed at the Westfield Library or volunteered at the High School Library are invited to apply.

Children’s Programs

Dinoman  -  Saturday, February 7th, at 10:00 a.m. or 11:30 a.m., Sunday, February 8th, at 1:30 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.;  It’s the Wolf  -  Saturday, February 21st, at 10:00 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. (4 years and older);  One Family Best of Bid Ideas  -  with Patricia Shih on Saturday, March 7th at 10:30 a.m.  (3 years and older).

Trip

On Thursday, May 21st, the Friends will be taking a trip to Newark.  We will be visiting the newly renovated Essex County Courthouse, the Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart, the Newark Boys Chorus School for a mini-concert and the Newark Public Library.  Tour guides and documents will guide us through these buildings.  A luncheon is also being planned.  The bus will leave at 9:00 a.m.  More information will be available in our next newsletter.
