JOHN SICHEL, composer (pre-concert lectures)
Our pre-concert lecturer is composer John Sichel, who has written works in many genres, ranging from easy piano pieces to chamber opera.  His recent works included the choral song cycle, Songs from the Dominion of Arrogance, a sonata for cello and piano and a quartet, Music from Avalon, commissioned and premiered by New York's Eberli Ensemble.
His Three Places in New Jersey, for large orchestra, has  been recorded by the Slovak Radio Orchestra and is available on an Opus One compact disc. A new recording Oiseaux Ordinaires featuring Lenore Davis, has just been released. His music has been heard in venues up and down the east coast and in Europe, as well as on New York radio stations WQXR, WNYC and WKCR.  John received a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the Yale School of Music in 1990.  He is on the faculty of Pingry, RVCC and is the founder and director of a new music ensemble, The Turnpike Camerata.
