MARIE-DANIELLE MERCIER, organist
Born in Le Mans, France, Marie-Danielle Mercier received her early musical training in her native city at the Conservatoire Municipal de Musique et d'Art Dramatique, of which Pierre Cochereau was then Director.  After being awarded prizes in Piano, Organ, Harmony and Chamber Music, in 1963 she entered the Conservatoire National Superieur de Musique in Paris where she won prizes for Harmony, Counterpoint and Fugue.  In 1967 she was admitted to the Organ Class under Rolande Falcinelli (who succeeded Marcel Dupre), and in 1971 Mrs. Mercier was awarded First Prize in Organ and Improvisation.

Since then she has given concerts in France (Notre-Dame in Paris, Rouen....) and in England.  In 1974 she recorded the Second Symphony by Marcel Dupre for the BBC.

In 1975, Marie-Daniele Mercier moved to Cranford, NJ, and was organist at St. Michael's church for eight years where she used to perform in concert with the orchestra and choir.  She gave concerts in New York City (St. Patrick's, St. Thomas, Coumbia University....) and in New Jersey,  and  returned to France many times to perform for organ conventions and concerts.

In 1983 she was asked to be the Director of Music and Organist at the Church of St. Vincent de Paul in New Yok City.  During her fifteen years she performed works by French composers such as Marcel Dupre and Roland Falcinelli.  Now she is a freelance Organist.
